An electronic cigarette is essentially an electronic device which behaves like traditional tobacco smoking. It generally consists of a glass shell, an electrical power source like a rechargeable battery, and a plastic tube like a tank or cartridge. Rather than nicotine, the user also inhales vap. As such, utilizing an electronic cigarette is frequently described as “vaping” rather than smoking.
Electronic cigarettes do not release tobacco chemicals into the air, nor do they result in the release of tar or other toxins. Inhaling smoke from burning tobacco leaves chemical residues behind which remain in the user’s system for up to six weeks. This has been shown to be significantly more hazardous to health than the toxic remnants of tobacco smoke itself. The effects of long-term exposure to even small amounts of these tobacco residues can lead to cancer.
Electronic cigarettes are able to replicate the physical act of smoking without exposing the user to the harmful toxins found in tobacco smoke. But they go a step further by removing the toxins from the air as well. By vaporizing, these devices deliver the active ingredient — nicotine — directly into the lungs. The vapors contain high concentrations of the same chemical compounds found in cigarette smoke: carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, and tar. But in much smaller doses.
The amount of vapor delivered by an electronic cigarette will vary based on how it is used. When you purchase your device, you can choose between using a refill kit, which is inexpensive, or buying batteries and using the aerosol itself. Electronic cigarettes work differently than tobacco cigarettes in that you do not have to pull a “drawer”. You simply fill up the reservoir with e-liquid, place your thumb on the button, and begin to inhale. You must exhale when you are finished.
E-juices are available in three basic flavors: fruit, mint, and other sweet flavors. But you can also buy “iquidators” to produce your own e-juice. Many vapers use these liquidizers to create their own customized flavors that include fruit, mint, cookie, or vegetable flavors. But you can also buy an e-juice in many different flavors. So whatever your tastes, you are sure to find an electronic cigarette to match.
E- Cigarettes are not like traditional cigarettes in that there is no such thing as a nicotine patch. Nicotine patches work by releasing small amounts of nicotine into the body each time that you have a puff. These patches are also not successful if you forget to release the patch – your body senses the presence of nicotine and becomes more sensitive to the toxins found in the nicotine patch. Electronic cigarettes do not require the use of nicotine patches or nicotine liquids. They deliver their active ingredient, nicotine, through vaporizing aerosol particles that contain no toxins.
In addition to no toxins, e- Cigarettes contain little or no chemicals, by-products, or even nicotine. It is primarily made up of just plain natural ingredients that are very safe. Some of these natural ingredients can be harmful to your body if you are allergic to some of them. For example, you should not use any e-juice that includes sugar (aspartame) or high fructose corn syrup as it can be very toxic if ingested. However, many of the herbal based aerosol sprays and creams used to release the vapor do not contain these ingredients, or are free of toxins.
There is some evidence that there may be health effects from long term electronic cigarette use. However, the best way to find out is to quit smoking and use e-Cigs instead. The reason for this is that e-Cigs are much more affordable than quitting cold turkey and you will continue to smoke throughout the year as you would smoke a traditional tobacco pipe. As you get started in keeping smoke free, you can further research the different types of electronic cigarettes and find one that suits you and your needs. You should make sure that you always read the instructions and warnings on the packaging before you start using an aerosol spray to release the vapor.
